freeflex® - The innovative container in Infusion Therapy

freeflex® is the innovative, flexible and PVC free container concept developed by Fresenius Kabi for Infusion Therapy products. The bag represents the significant improvements made in infusion container technology. It achieves the high drug-compatibility and ecological standard of glass and retains the well accepted characteristics of an infusion bag: clarity, flexibility, low weight.

In 2002 the freeflex® bags highly improved due to the new port generation. The infusion port now has an additional membrane to prevent unintentional leakages after removal of the giving set. The sterile chamber of the addition port allows a strictly air closed system between solution and drug during reconstitution. The addition port is specially designed to fit with the two stage guides on the freeflex® transfer device and is also compatible with Monovial or Biodome drug transfer systems.

WARNINGS:
Addition of medication
freeflex® containers have a separate medication administration port with a self-sealing septum. Because the port is protected by an hermetically sealed, tamper evident cover, it is not necessary to disinfect the medication site prior to first use.

  • Do not vent
  • Do not administer unless the solution is clear and the freeflex® is undamaged
  • Discontinue the infusion if adverse reaction occurs
  • It is recommended that administration sets are changed at least once every 24 hours
  • Partially used freeflex® must be discarded
Additives may be incompatible and expert advice should be sought before adding medication to a freeflex®. If the physician decides to add medication, aseptic technique must be employed.

Additions must be made by an authorised person.
