Fresenius Kabi Australia has installed world leading automated technology known as Robotic Intravenous Automation (RIVA) at its new state of the art compounding facility in Brisbane. RIVA is an integrated system designed to automate the process of preparing IV admixtures. The technology will be housed in a special Clean Room and will automate the preparation of IV syringes and bags with patient specific doses of oncology medication. 

 

RIVA will be licensed by the Therapeutic Goods Administration, bring a new level of dose accuracy and patient safety to the compounding process, and have a capacity to prepare up to 50,000 units of oncology preparations per annum.

 

By automating the preparation of IV syringes and Bags, RIVA will:

 

• enhance dose accuracy for increased patient safety
• improve safety for the pharmacy technician
• increase efficiency and effectiveness in the compounding facility
• meet the requirements of a changing Regulatory environment
• reduce RSI and OH&S issues for pharmacy technicians
• meet the demands of increased workload
